Frequently Asked Questions

The MBOE program features a blended curriculum focused on operational excellence, analytics, leadership, supply chain and innovation. In addition, each student will complete a capstone project that's implemented in their organization. The curriculum is taught via lecture, group discussions, simulations, and immersive industry explorations.

The coursework is very hands on. There is a very high amount of integration between students’ jobs and the program – assignments often require students to use examples and anecdotes from their jobs and the capstone project, when it’s completed, will have numerous benefits for the students’ jobs and organizations.

In between class sessions, you will work on assignments, read case studies, apply what you have learned to your capstone project, work through online learning modules, and have opportunities to connect with faculty to receive assistance with course content.

On average, students spend about 7-10 hours per week in between class sessions. 

Exceptions can be made, but it is recommended that students attend all sessions. Please discuss with the staff as issues arrive. 

The MBOE is a full-time program, and must be completed in that manner.

As a cohort-based program, we see great benefit from attending in-person during the eight class sessions, however we understand things may arise that limit students attending in person. Please reach out to learn more.

We have an Executive Summary that you can share with your employer that discusses the value of the MBOE both to you and your employer. It also details ROIs that students have experienced from their capstone projects. In addition, we would be happy to set up a time for our Academic Director/Director to speak with your employer to share more details about the program and what they can expect.

In order to be considered for the MBOE program, you must have a four year Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. In addition, our students must have at least 3 years of professional experience and be currently employed.

You are not required to submit GMAT/GRE scores if your undergraduate GPA was a 3.0 or greater, if you have at least 5 years work experience, or if you have a post baccalaureate degree. Please contact our office for details. 

International applicants must have one of the following to attend the MBOE program:

• Current H1-B Visa (you must continue to work throughout the program to maintain this status)
• Permanent US Residency
• Temporary Protected Status

No, the MBOE program is cohort-based and all classes are taken together.

Typically, students use their current employer for their personalized capstone project. However, due to recent events with COVID-19, we are opening up the application to those who are currently unemployed and will work with those individuals to find an alternative project location. 

No, but if you are not from Columbus, it is recommended that you stay at the Blackwell Hotel due to proximity of the classrooms.

Tuition for the MBOE cohort that begins in 2024 is $57,585 for Ohio residents, and $57,600 for non-residents. A non-refundable tuition deposit of $1,500 is due upon admission to the program. This non-refundable deposit reserves your place in the class and is deducted from the total cost of tuition.

Below is the estimated payment schedule. These are just estimates of the amounts that are due, and the amount could vary slightly, but will still add up to the total cost of $57,585 (or $57,600 for non-residents). This will appear on your BuckeyeLink account and must be paid by the due date listed.

 Travel to and from campus for each session and overnight accommodations, as well as travel to and from our domestic trip location for Session 8. 

Unfortunately scholarships are not available at this time. Since the program helps students create solutions for a current problem at their place of employment, we encourage companies to help financially sponsor their employees. We are currently accepting applications for the Class of 2025 which begins December 2024 and admit students based on three application deadlines. Applicants must apply online and provide the required documents listed below. The MBOE Admission Board takes a comprehensive approach in evaluating applications.
