Accelerated Careers Awareness Program-ACAP

ACAP-OHIO is an innovative center development program designed specifically for minority high school students. This fully-supervised, week long summer residency program was developed to give minority students an opportunity to explore careers in accounting and business.

In past years, during their stay on campus, students attend a variety of business and college preparatory workshops and are introduced to topics such as accounting, finance, economics, computer technology, and business management. ACAP-Ohio is sponsored by the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), and the Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA) in conjunction with the Fisher College of Business, which has hosted the program for the past twenty years.

ACAP-Ohio 2023 will be held IN-PERSON Sunday through Friday  June 11-16, 2023. Students who are selected to attend will receive free books, materials, and mentoring associated with the program funded by prominent regional and national accounting firms and corporations. Candidates for ACAP-Ohio are required to complete an application, obtain one personal reference, write a 200-word essay and submit official transcripts.

Throughout ACAP-Ohio's 27 year history, the program has successfully impacted participants. The most recent survey results of ACAP-Ohio alumni show that nearly 100% of respondents have gone on to college or plan to attend college and more than 76% reported that ACAP-Ohio influenced their choice of college major. Nearly all participants agree that the program gave them a greater appreciation for the role of accountants and CPAs in the business world.
